Signature Shutter frames are joined using a bowtie biscuit fastener
system. To join the frames together, lay the frame pieces on your
floor in a rectangle pattern. Hold the frame pieces together and insert
the biscuit, then drive it flush with the back of the frame using
a hammer. |

| Drill pilot screw holes into side frame pieces approximately
4" from the top and bottom of the frame. |
| Use included screws to attach frame to window opening. Only
place screws in the upper left and right hand sides. You will attach
the bottom frame sides after the panels have been aligned. |
| Using the Hinge Screw Locator Template (below) drill a pilot
hole 2 15/16" below the inner edge of the frame. Then, using
only one screw per hinge, attach panels to frame. Position the panels
so that there is a 1/16" between the top of the panel and the
inside of the frame. |
| To align the panels, shift the bottom of the frame left or
right until the tops of the panel line up. Then, lock in the alignment
by driving the lower left and right hand side frame pieces into place.
| With the left hand panel closed, locate the magnet so that
its front left hand corner touches the left hand panel. Mount the
magnet strike plate to the upper (for top magnet) and lower (for lower
magnet) corners of the right hand panel (be sure to mount to the back
of the panel) |
| Drive the remainder of the hinge screws into place and then
run a bead of caulk (if needed) where the frames meet the window casing/wall.
To touchup the mounting screw holes, fill the void with our touchup
putty and using a sponge brush, dab your touchup paint over the putty.
Use the paint sparingly, the orange peel will disappear in a few minutes. |
