Our Process

Signature Shutters offers a quality craftsmanship approach to all of our products.  Check out our process below to learn more.

While most manufacturers in our industry use wood dowels to fasten their parts, Signature Shutters fastens our components together with screws, tongue and groove joints and glue. When fastening any two parts together (this applies to all products, not just shutters) proper engineering standards are to use materials with dissimilar coefficients of expansion (delta t). Wood dowels and wood stiles are of the same material and therefore have the same delta t. Any forces (heat, humidity, weight, etc) induced upon these materials will cause them to react in the same way (expand or contract) and to do so concurrently. In the case of a wood dowel inserted into a wood stile, the dowel will expand, thus enlarging the hole, then upon shrinking will leave a gap between the dowel and wall of the hole.... resulting in joint failure. At Signature Shutters, by using steel and wood together, you have different delta t's and therefore no joint failure. In addition to the use of more expensive fasteners, we also tongue and groove the joint to allow extra surface area for our glue to adhere to, and to add shear strength.
To produce a plantation shutters that will maintain its beauty over the life of ownership, Signature Shutters follows the rules of woodworking determined through generations of craftsmanship. True woodworkers know how to design and produce an interior shutter and custom shutters to last in any environment. If you have a question about the wood shutter or custom shutters, please contact us.

What Client's Say

Signature Shutters made it easy for us!  I had a consultant come out to our home and they measured all of our windows and took care of everything for us.  We now have beautifully crafted plantation shutters throughout our home!
Allison, Cumming, GA
We were looking for a quality shutter but for a good price.  Many of the other companies imported and outsources their shutters and service.  Signature Shutters made a quality product and had their own installation team.  Their price was very reasonable.
Peter
We never thought we would be able to get that custom window completed.  Thank you so much for your dedication.
